Symposium week will be a busy one, when registrants will spend each day learning about mushrooms, playing with mushroom colours, attending interesting workshops, and spending time with friends. Here is an outline of the week’s schedule:

Monday, October 17
Registrants arrive and check into their accommodation
Evening: bus transportation to a special welcome dinner

Tuesday through Friday, October 18-21
Workshops, dyepots, and forays throughout the day (as registered)

Tuesday evening, October 18
Pre-dinner: wine-tasting and sampling of locally produced food products at the Royal Canadian Legion
Dinner in the Community Hall
Presentation: “Flavorful, Fanciful and Foul Fungi from Farflung Places around the World” by Daniel Winkler

Wednesday evening, October 19
Pre-dinner: Displays of work by local artists at the Royal Canadian Legion
Dinner in the Community Hall
Registrants’ presentations

Thursday evening, October 20
Pre-dinner: Presentations by Symposium registrants
Canadiana night at the Royal Canadian Legion
Presentation: Retired RCMP Constable Chuck Bertrand

Friday evening, October 21
Pre-dinner: In the Hospitality Suite at the Painted Boat, display of books published by Harbour Publishing, an award-winning independent publisher based in Madeira Park
Dinner in the Community Hall
Presentation: “Mushrooms of Haida Gwaii” by Paul Kroeger

Saturday, October 22
Open dyepot sessions
Optional boat tour (registration required)
Salmon barbecue lunch provided by the Pender Harbour Rotary Club
Local galleries open for the community “Art Crawl”
Samples from the week’s dyepots available
Farewell gala dinner

Sunday, October 23
Everyone says goodbye until 2018

Note: Lunch and transportation, when necessary, will be provided Tuesday through Saturday. Transportation to and from the ferry terminal at Langdale will be provided for those registrants not arriving in their own vehicles.

A Hospitality Suite at the Painted Boat Resort will be open to registrants Monday evening and Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons.

An exhibit of mushroom-dyed items created by Symposium participants will be open to the public in the afternoons of October 19, 20. and 21 in the Harbour Room at the Painted Boat Resort.
